Up to Kathla Mata,
back for the afternoon.
Yash Rock Hotel is on the same side of Kangra as Kathla Mata temple, the clifftop temple near Salol that you reach from Gaggal by way of Tiara. Rooms start at ₹999 a night, or ₹1,699 with air conditioning, there is a restaurant on site, and parking is free.
Out through Tiara.
The way to Kathla Mata runs through Tiara and on towards Salol, and we are near Tiara, so it is the same road. The temple is not on the map data we measure with, so there is no figure for it here — message us and we will send you the way.
16 March, and Navratri.
Every 16 March the temple holds its chhinj, a wrestling fair. Navratri, Shivratri and Janmashtami are its busiest days besides, and Navratri fills rooms across the whole valley. If your dates fall on any of these, send them early.
Several rooms and longer stays both move the price, and it is a conversation rather than a rate card.
The short version.
What people usually ask.
Anything else, message us. Kathla is our side of Kangra, and we know the roads.
On top of a cliff near Salol, on the road towards Lanj, close to Gawalnu. From Gaggal the way in is through Tiara, which is our side of Kangra.
Every year on 16 March. A chhinj is a Kangra wrestling fair, a dangal held at the temple. Come for it, or pick another day if you want the temple quiet.
Navratri, Shivratri and Janmashtami. If you are coming for any of them, send us your dates early and we will hold a room.
There is a hamlet called Kathla in Chamba district, and a map will often pick it. Search for Kathla Mata Mandir instead, or message us and we will send you the way.
Yes. Kalka Mata is at Samirpur on the same side, and the Tattapani hot spring is further out past Salol, so the three make one easy day, and you are back well before dark.
Yes. Tell us the night before what time you want to be out. Leaving before the kitchen opens is normal for people going for darshan, and nobody here will find it strange.
The rest of the day.
There is a longer piece on the temple, and one on the whole day — Kathla Mata and Kalka Mata in the morning, then a soak at the Tattapani hot spring.
